HEP Caney Creek Solar

Status:

This project is in the early stages and they are still working out lease options. Landowners in the area need to educate themselves before turning over their land for more than 30 years and possibly leave a legacy of damage to the area.

Project

HEP Caney Creek Solar is planned to be a 122MW (nameplate, not actual production) facility over 700+ acres south of I20 and east of FM 47 in Van Zandt County.

Location / Size

This project is located south of I20, East of FM 47 and north of FM 243. At 700+ acres it will require over 400,000 solar panels that contact toxic heavy metals. This area is just north of where multiple tornadoes tore through the area TWICE in the past few years.

This area is primarily county roads that will be damaged and blocked during construction. With the recent development of many homes in the area, these homeowners will find their property devalued and difficult to get to.

In the picture on the left, the red area has an option on it already for the industrial solar facility. The area in green is the target area.

Developers

HEP Caney Creek Solar, LLC is a small LLC formed by HEP Peak Clean Energy, LLC that has a small office suite in a strip business center in Louisville, CO. HEP Peak Clean Energy, LLC shows to be tied to HEP Global, a German Company (apparently German companies like Van Zandt County for some reason).

How To Protect Yourself

This is an industrial solar facility. Continue to monitor the facility for damage, noise, runoff issues, or other safety issues. You can report problems to the Public Utilities Commission, TCEQ, and your county officials.

CONTACT YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS AND TELL THEM NO TO THIS PROJECT! This includes your Van Zandt County Judge, Precinct Commissioners, Canton ISD Officials and others.
